What was the last great empire to rule the earth?
Was the Roman Empire or British Empire? I almost left out a component important to my question: I meant to ask: The last great empire to rule the earth in terms of time? What empire was considered ruled over a great time?
The Roman Empire, which lasted from at least 241 BC to 476 AD. If the Byzantine Empire, the eastern half of the Roman Empire that survived the fall of Rome in 476, and continued until 1453, included, but the total time interval is about 1700 years.
